Happy Monday and I am glad to see you starting the week off strong! Staying committed to yourself and your fitness goals is crucial – especially when Monday rolls around. How you start the week can drastically affect how the week goes and how you feel.
That is why Monday is one of the most important days, and keeping the commitment you made to your health and fitness during the beginning of the week can drastically effect how the rest of the week goes.
Ask any fit person what the most important aspect of fitness is, and they will almost always say commitment!
I was talking to one of our members today and we were chatting about how we perceive athletes and what we actually see.
Anyone can look on the outside and see an athlete who has many gold medals and trophies and think “well shoot, this dude/dudette must be gifted to be able to accomplish those feats and be awarded with greatness”
When in actuality what we don’t see are the countless hours of commitment and training that took place over their lifetime which led up to those medals and trophies. We don’t see the dedication, the sweat, the failures, the tough times, the years of training, the sleepless nights and so forth.
Commitment means that you are in it for the long haul. Commitment rises above bad days, hectic schedules and emotions. Commitment holds strong when you don’t want to do it, when you don’t feel like doing it and when you don’t have time to do it.
True commitment doesn’t depend on how you feel. It depends on your integrity and on living for the purpose you have set for yourself.
Are you committed to get fit?
Being physically fit depends on consistency. And consistency requires commitment.
It takes consistent, near-daily exercise to cause your body to make the changes that bring about fitness. My “off” days consist of exercising J The exercise may be a lighter, but it is still exercise and movement for my body. A light workout will still allow blood flow to the muscles and brain more effectively than no exercise. It will still release endorphins and bring your brain to paradise.
When you are consistent your joints, tendons, muscles and heart will strengthen, you cardio output will improve as your body becomes more efficient at using oxygen, and your endurance will increase.
In fact, doing something consistently is as important, or maybe even more important, than what you actually do. Even if you are just doing low intensity work, doing it every day is infinitely better than doing something strenuous only once a week.
The real rewards come when you not only commit to intense workouts, but you also commit to being consistent with those workouts.
In order to get fit, you do not need expensive clothes or fancy equipment.
What you need is commitment. If you are committed, the rest of the pieces will fall into place.
Don’t overthink this. Just start, and commit to doing something every single day.
Send me a text and let me know when you want to meet up and talk about your next steps and goals – I am ready for you J
